UAP EEE obtained the "Champions" and the "1st Runner Up position" in a national competition titled 'Power and Energy Hackathon 2017'

 

Department of EEE obtained the "Champions" and the "1st Runner Up position" in a national competition titled 'Power and Energy Hackathon 2017' organized by Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral resources. The event was inaugurated by Honorable State Minister, Nasrul Hamid MP, as the Chief Guest at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) on 20th April. Teams of the Department of EEE, UAP were the only team who won two consecutive prizes in the entire competition.

Team members are- Muhammad Ahad Rahman Miah, Md. Masum Howlader, Anas Syed, Mosiur Rahman Sourov, Assistant Professor, Md. Khairul Alam, Shakawat Hossain Rakib, Lecturers.

The event took place on the 19th & 20th April, 2017 for two dynamic days to bring together a community of students, young professionals, hackers, hustlers and energy experts – determined to harness the consumer and technology revolution in energy under a common platform.

As many as 390 teams and 49 information technology teams from universities, industries and professionals have registered for the "Power & Energy Hackathon 2017" competition. Out of the total, some 152 teams with around 800 participants were selected to manufacture their prototype in 36 hours' efforts. From our University of Asia Pacific, faculties from the Department of EEE participated this competition with two teams "Mastermind" and " Hack 4 life" to find innovative and most feasible solutions for two big challenges out of seven tasks.

Problem 1: How can we use technology to ensure Energy Efficient Lifestyle at Residential/Household level.
Problem 2: How can we ensure the universal coverage of affordable access to electricity covering all the remote areas of Bangladesh.

After long 36 hours of uninterrupted brainstorming works the solution which was proposed by the teams was finally accepted and nominated for prizes by juries. It was indeed a great glory and proud moment for our faculties to represent our university in front of the audience.
